The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, University of Colorado, Boulder, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Child Language Disorders beginning August 2008. We anticipate hiring at the assistant professor level. However, applications at other levels will be considered from those who would strengthen the department's diversity.

Candidates in all areas of child language disorders will be considered. Candidates in the area of school-age language disorders, autism spectrum disorders, language disorders in bilingual children, language learning disabilities, or dyslexia are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who have completed the PhD and those who are ABD may apply. Applicants must be highly qualified for undergraduate and graduate teaching.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active and independent research program and to compete for extra-mural research funding. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach in the area of school-age language disorders and mentor students in the department’s undergraduate program, in the Master’s SLP program and in the Ph.D. program. Salary and start-up are competitive and dependent upon experience.

The university has easy access to a large population of people, including diverse bilingual communities. CU-Boulder has well-established connections with many schools, hospitals, and clinics in the metro Boulder and Denver community.

The department consistently ranks very high in the U.S. News and World Reports’ ranking of Speech Pathology and Audiology Programs. In 2007, Speech Pathology was ranked 17th. In 2004, Audiology was ranked 27th. Our programs are fully accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

For people who love outdoor recreation, Boulder offers a huge range of opportunities. It is a recreational magnet for runners, road and mountain biking, rock climbing, and, of course, any sport that you can do in the snow.

We will begin reviewing applications November 30, 2007 and will continue to review applications until the position is filled.

All applicants should send by mail a curriculum vita, a statement of research interests, a statement of undergraduate and graduate teaching interests, and sample research papers. Applicants should ask for at least three letters of reference, sent separately to:
