The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing
Sciences, University of Colorado, Boulder, invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Child
Language Disorders beginning August 2008. We anticipate
hiring at the assistant professor level. However,
applications at other levels will be considered
from those who would strengthen the department's
diversity.
Candidates in all areas of child language disorders
will be considered. Candidates in the area of
school-age language disorders, autism spectrum
disorders, language disorders in bilingual children,
language learning disabilities, or dyslexia are
especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who
have completed the PhD and those who are ABD may
apply. Applicants must be highly qualified for
undergraduate and graduate teaching.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish
an active and independent research program and
to compete for extra-mural research funding. The
successful candidate will also be expected to
teach in the area of school-age language disorders
and mentor students in the department’s
undergraduate program, in the Master’s SLP
program and in the Ph.D. program. Salary and start-up
are competitive and dependent upon experience.
The university has easy access to a large population
of people, including diverse bilingual communities.
CU-Boulder has well-established connections with
many schools, hospitals, and clinics in the metro
Boulder and Denver community.
The department consistently ranks very high in
the U.S. News and World Reports’ ranking
of Speech Pathology and Audiology Programs. In
2007, Speech Pathology was ranked 17th. In 2004,
Audiology was ranked 27th. Our programs are fully
accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation
in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
For people who love outdoor recreation, Boulder
offers a huge range of opportunities. It is a
recreational magnet for runners, road and mountain
biking, rock climbing, and, of course, any sport
that you can do in the snow.
We will begin reviewing applications November
30, 2007 and will continue to review applications
until the position is filled.

vita, a statement of research interests, a statement
of undergraduate and graduate teaching interests,
and sample research papers. Applicants should
